THERE WILL BE A DAY - Jeremy Camp
During a recent morning devotion titled, “The Promise of Heaven,” I was taken back to scripture describing what heaven would be like. I also started to “imagine” what exactly does the hope of heaven mean to me?
Revelation 21:4-6 (NIV) describes heaven this way, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’ He said to me: ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.’”
Revelation 22:5 (NIV) goes on to say, “There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.”
Have you ever wondered/imagined what eternity will be like? Heaven or the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:2) will wipe away every tear. Furthermore, there will be no more death, sorrow, crying, or pain. There will be no more darkness, just light. Wow, what wonderful and powerful truths those are to imagine and cling to.
No matter what you’re going through right now, it’s not the last word – God has beautifully written the final chapters of your story. It is the true fulfillment and eternal joy for those who love Him and have asked Jesus Christ into their hearts.
God created the heavens and the earth. God is and was the beginning as the book of Genesis wondrously describes it. The Bible begins with the creation of the universe and concludes in Revelation with His creation of a new heaven and new earth. This one promise alone brings us great joy, hope, and encouragement. When we are united with Christ, our sins are forgiven, and our future is secure. We will reach complete perfectionism when we see Him face to face. We’ll have new bodies, new hearts, and a new desire for worship. By faith, we look forward to this living hope to live forever in this glorious place He alone created.
Just as God finished the work of creation and Jesus finished the work of redemption, the Trinity will finish the entire plan of salvation by inviting the redeemed into a new creation. The Father (God), The Son (Jesus), and the Spirit (Holy Spirit) make up the Trinity.
Below is a poem I wrote titled “Imagine.”
Close your eyes and let the Lord of light guide your dreams.
With every dream, imagine what heaven is like now.
Imagine a world where nothing is quite what it seems.
Carried on wings of faith, His love activates hope somehow.
Someday we'll reach the sky where broken hearts find peace,
Walking in golden fields, all sorrows and pain finally cease.
In that divine place, worries and fears find release,
Imagine the hope of heaven when anxiety starts to unleash.
Imagine a world with no limits and no more darkness,
Trust the hope of a future that can be felt but not yet seen,
Imagine rays of His light and love, frees us from all sadness,
Imagine heavenly glory where every soul is made clean.
Every heart has a story, imagine yours being written now,
Every word is a poem expressing eternal joy throughout.
Imagine hope of heaven filled with endless worship and praise,
Imagine hope of heaven where love will never fade away.
Can you imagine the promise of a better place?
Can you imagine the joy in this living hope of eternal grace?
Now close your eyes and let His love transform you,
Imagine heaven in your heart, surrender to its eternal truth.
Colossians 3:1-4 (NIV) talks about how Christians should live their lives. “Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you will also appear with him in glory.”
Picturing ourselves in heaven is an act of obedience because we’re placing and giving God our primary focus. Setting our hearts on things above is striving to put heaven’s priorities into daily practice. God wants us to get direction from Him, not from the worldly culture that surrounds us. Setting our minds on things above is to concentrate on the eternal rather than the temporal (internal). Each day, wake up with gratitude giving God your priority and primary focus.
Knowing our final destiny provides a different perspective on our lives. “Hidden with Christ” means God is our refuge, our protector where we feel safe. It gives us security for now and ensures our eternal hope. If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, that gives you the confidence and power to live for Him today, hope for the future, when we will see Him face to face.
Yes, we would love to know more what our future will be like in our remaining days here on earth, but if you know and trust Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then we know enough to believe that eternity with God will be more wonderful than we could ever imagine. So, I leave you with these last few questions. Have you ever imagined what eternity will be like? What does the hope of heaven mean to you?
By the way, the three songs I shared are from three of my favorite Contemporary Christian artists, and all three are some of my all time favorites and apply to this topic. Hope you take the time to listen to each one.
May God richly bless you today and always! Thank you for reading and being a subscriber in support of my work.
I was thinking the same thing as Jill! What a beautiful way to start my day to imagine being at the right side of our Savior! Thank you for sharing! ❤️🙏
Heaven is place we can't imagine what is going to be. No more tears, no sadness. Just happiness can't imagine . Sounds wonderful. Thanks Anne
